Here's to the Heroes - Memorial Day 2013

As Memorial Day draws closer, and seeing that I won't be here to post ON that day, I would like to go ahead and do it:

Here's to the heroes,
Those few who dare,
Heading for glory,
Living a prayer.

Here's to the heroes
Who change our lives.
Thanks to the heroes,
Freedom survives.

Here's to the heroes
Who never rest.
They are the chosen,
We are the blessed.

Here's to the heroes
Who aim so high.
Here's to the heroes
Who do or die.

Here's to the heroes
Who aim so high.
Here's to the heroes
Who do or die.
Here's to the heroes
Who do or die.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

For love of country they accepted death. - James A. Garfield

A Parachute Adventure

It was kind of a late birthday present for me...
Grams and Papa purchased some parachutes from Voice of the Martyrs, and we spent last night putting them together.

Rebekah and Papa cutting ribbon

After we made the parachutes, we had a dinner of spaghetti and garlic bread
We watched Pilgrims Progress, had some root beer floats, (though it was snowy outside), then went to bed. :P

This morning we got up, ate breakfast, and hit the road, for the three hour ride to Voice of the Martyrs US Headquarters in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Here is part of the museum in the "Wurmbrand Center"

Richard Wurmbrand's chair and desk, with Bibles, and other books of his

An Indian pastor's bicycle

This pretty much speaks for itself. This Bible belonged to a woman in Laos.

Sorry for the overexposure...my camera was acting weird.

We went to the operations center to hand-deliver the parachutes.

Just inside of the operations center

Outside of the operations center, this is the picture I got of the Wurmbrand Center
Beautiful, isn't it?

"The Pink Panther" :)

The plane they used to use to drop the parachutes over Colombia

Grams, Hannah, Rebekah, Jack (the dog), Daniel, and me.

Well, I'm hoping to go back very soon with a group from my church to volunteer. That would be AWESOME!
